New Way To Port Any Custom Recovery To Any MTK Device On Mobile Phone

Are you tired of your stock ROM, see how to port any custom recovery to your mtk device using mobile phone not PC. So I will be very brief with it using screenshots. You can port TWRP, CWM, CTR, Philz, COT recovery using this method. So let's go on.

Requirements:

  • Rooted Device.
  • BusyBox Installed.
  • APKTool Installed.

  • STEP 1: PREPARING

    Open your ES file explorer and give it root permission, then go to Cache and delete all files and folders in it. As shown below;

    So create 3 folders and do not use space in folder names. As shown below;

    So after that, copy Stok boot.img to “Stok_boot“;
    Stok recovery to “Stok_recovery“;
    Port recovery to “Port_recovery“. As shown below;

    Then rename boot to “boot.img“, rename stok recovery to “recovery.img” and rename port recovery to “recovery.img” (if it already in this name than you need not change the name). As shown below;

    STEP 2: DECOMPILING

    Then open APKTool and long press on Cache and choose Get Access Permission. As shown below;

    Then open Cache folder and do the same for “stok_boot“, “stok_recovery“ and “port_recovery“. Then open “stok_boot” folder and tap on “boot.img“. You will see a popup menu. Choose “expack-mt65xx”.

    Your boot will Decompile in few seconds and do same for Stok_recovery and Port_recovery. As shown below;

    Then all the folders will look like this below;

    STEP 3: FILE REPLACING

    Then open “stok_recovery“. Copy “kernel” and paste/replace it in “port_recovery“. As shown below;

    Then open “stok_recovery/ramdisk” and copy these files and paste them to “port_recovery/ramdisk“.

    – meta_init.project.rc
    – meta_init.rc
    – meta_init.modem.rc
    – ueventd.rc
    – ueventd.goldfish.rc
    – fstab
    – fstab.goldfish

    (If you couldn’t find any file in stok recovery, find it in stok boot. Again you couldn’t find it in stok boot, then leave/skip it).

    Now open “stok_recovery/ramdisk/etc” and copy “recovery.fstab“. Again open “port_recovery/ramdisk/etc” and paste the file here.

    STEP 4: RECOMPILING

    Then open APKTool and gain access permission of “cache“, “Port_Recovery“, and “Port_Recovery/ramdisk“. (See Step 2)

    Now tap on “ramdisk” of port_recovery and you will see a popup menu like this. Select “repack-mt65xx“.

    Your ported recovery will recompiled as “new.img“. Copy this “new.img“ file to sdcard and flash it via Flashify or Rashr.

    STEP 5: BUG FIXING

    Now you are already done with porting of custom recovery so If you wish to fix bugs kindly reboot to recovery mode and search for bugs and problems then if you found anything like “can’t mount sdcard“ or “can’t mount xxx“ then follow this steps.

    Start work from first step in this post and in “Start work from first & in “step 4” don’t replace “recovery.fstab“, edit the file with text editor. When you get to "Step 4” don’t replace “recovery.fstab“, edit the file with text editor.

    Then find out your phone’s mount point. Now replace the mount poins of “recovery.fstab“ with yours. As shown below;

    Then repack the port recovery again and test it. You are done!

    Is it helpful? Do you encounter any problems or issues while porting your custom recovery on your mtk device kindly ask more questions and if it works for you kindly share your experience!
